Afghanistan is the world’s largest opium producer. Last year the country produced more than 3 thousand tons of this drug.
Most of the opium is exported abroad. However, according to data from the Afghan Ministry for the fight against drug trafficking, in recent years the number of drug users in Afghanistan has raised . Out of a population of about 35 million, there are 2.4 million drug users. The centres for the treatment of drug addiction are only 123.
